Ponant is op-en-top Frans maar trekt de laatste jaren ook een internationaler publiek aan. De indrukwekkende uitbreiding van de vloot maakt – vooral op het vlak van expeditiecruises – de schepen toegankelijker voor iedereen.

De premium rederij heeft behalve de klassieke driemaster ‘Le Ponant’ – die eveneens symbool staat voor de naam en logo van de rederij – verschillende luxeyachts met een capaciteit van max. 132 kajuiten en suites. 

Met deze gloednieuwe Ponant Explorers (6 in totaal) staat Ponant momenteel aan het begin van een nieuw cruisetijdperk. Een waarbij expeditiecruises op de voorgrond treden. De nieuwe yachts zijn specifiek gebouwd voor expeditiecruises naar unieke bestemmingen waar geen of weinig andere schepen komen.

Behalve de vaarroutes naar het Noordpoolgebied en Antarctica, doen de schepen ook veel tropische bestemmingen aan zoals het Amazonegebied, de Zuid-Oostkust van Afrika, Madagascar, Papoea-Nieuw-Guinea, enz. Door de kleinschalige omvang van de hoogtechnologische schepen in combinatie met de zorgvuldig gekozen routes beleef je een intense cruisevakantie.

Absolute blikvanger is de onderwaterlounge Blue Eye, een multisensorische ruimte 3,5 meter onder de waterlijn. Van hieruit heb je een uniek uitzicht op de wondere onderwaterwereld, inclusief geluiden en beelden uit de omringende oceaan dankzij hoogtechnologische hydrofoons en camera’s op de boeg van het schip.

De inrichting van de schepen is modern en straalt rust uit dankzij een mooi kleurenpalet. Het prachtige – Scandinavisch designachtige – houtwerk zit overal verweven in het restaurant, receptie en de bar. Ook de hutten (allen met balkon) zijn zeer verzorgd, met heerlijke matrassen en kussens, en een ruime inloopdouche.

De kapitein en bemanning varen volgens het ‘Open Bridge’ principe en zijn enthousiast om hun maritieme kennis en ervaring te delen met de gasten.
